SpeakHead is a video studio that runs on your iPhone. This page says exactly what leaves your phone, when, and why. Short version: your videos never leave your phone unless you choose to share them; the only things that reach our servers are your email when you sign in, your scripts when you are signed in, and the specific audio or text you ask the AI features to work on.

What stays on your iPhone

Every video and photo you record or import, every trimmed, tightened, captioned or softened version, your shot lists, voiceovers and your 30-day plan are stored only on your iPhone. We cannot see them. Deleting the app deletes them. Saving to Photos or sharing is always your explicit action.

When the teleprompter follows your voice, it listens while you record using Apple's speech recognition on your iPhone, only to find your place in the script. The sound and the words it hears are not uploaded or kept.

What we collect when you sign in

Signing in is optional and only needed for AI features and script backup. We store your email address and a random account id. We do not collect your name, contacts, precise location or advertising identifiers. To understand how SpeakHead is used and improve it, we use the analytics services Usermaven and PostHog: on our website they record visits and clicks; in the app they record simple usage events (for example finishing the welcome screens, making an Auto edit or opening the Pro screen) with the app version and your country from your phone settings. Before you sign in these events are anonymous; after you sign in they are linked to your SpeakHead account ID, never to your email, scripts, captions, audio or videos. App analytics is never used for advertising or shared with ad networks. To measure our ads on Facebook and Instagram, we use Meta's tools: on our website the Meta Pixel (your visit and whether you tapped the App Store link), and in the app Meta's SDK, which tells Meta that the app was installed and opened, and when a free trial or subscription starts. In the app this uses Apple's privacy-preserving ad attribution: SpeakHead does not collect your device's advertising identifier, does not ask to track you, and never sends Meta your email, scripts, captions, audio or videos. Meta handles this data under its own privacy policy.

Script backup

While signed in, the text of your projects (title and script) is backed up to your account so it survives a lost phone and can be edited from a new one. Only text is backed up, never video or audio. Deleting a project on the phone deletes the backup.

AI features and the data they use

Ideas, scripts, shot lists and the 30-day plan: the short profile you typed (niche, audience, goal, tone) and, for scripts, your chosen angle are sent to Anthropic's API to write the text. If you turn on “Your voice”, up to three of your recent edited scripts are sent along as style examples; turning it off deletes those samples.

Captions: only the audio track of the one video you choose is uploaded, sent to Deepgram for transcription, and the uploaded copy is deleted as soon as the transcript is back (and in any case within 24 hours). The video itself is never uploaded.

Auto edit: the words of your take and their timings (the transcript) are sent to Anthropic's API to plan highlights, on-screen moments, stock footage spots and a recommended look. The video and its audio are not sent for this; the edit is rendered on your iPhone. If the take has no transcript yet, Auto edit first makes one exactly as Captions does above.

Stock footage: short English search phrases chosen by the AI (not your words and not your video) are sent from our server to Pexels to find clips. The clips you keep are downloaded from Pexels straight to your iPhone, so Pexels receives your device's IP address, as with any web download. Search results are kept on our server for 7 days without any link to your account.

Trim, clean-up, jump cuts and skin softening run entirely on your iPhone. Nothing is sent anywhere.

We do not use your content to train models, and our providers process it under their API terms without training on it.

Usage counters

To enforce the free and Pro allowances we record how many AI requests you made and how many seconds of audio you transcribed. We keep counts and timestamps, not content.

Subscriptions

Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles payment; we receive a receipt token and the subscription status, never your card details. Subscription status is processed by RevenueCat on our behalf.

Where data is stored and for how long

Account data is stored with Supabase in the United States. Uploaded audio is deleted after transcription. Account data is kept while your account exists and deleted when you delete the account.

Deleting your account

Settings → Account → Delete account removes your account, script backups, voice samples, usage history and any uploaded audio still in transit. It cannot be undone. To stop free trials being claimed again, we keep a one-way fingerprint of your email address (it cannot be turned back into the address) together with which free trials it used, for 12 months after deletion. Everything on your iPhone stays on your iPhone.

Children

SpeakHead is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will show the new version before you use an affected feature. Questions: support@speakhead.com.
